Beautiful conversion of the Hospital which closed in 2000.

how refreshing to see the magnificent buildings being used again, I remember in the 70s working on the railway doing track maintainance along the length adjacent to the hospital seeing the aftermath when patients finally gave up thier struggle, climbed over the fence and laid down on the track.
its interesting to note that the old Handley Page factory and airfield is just on the other side of the railway

I'm rather impressed! The buildings look great, but...I feel that some of the blocks look somewhat bland at the mo. Maybe it's just me but some ivy climbing up the walls wouldn't go amiss!
Thanks for posting the photos, Winchester. Nice to see something saved instead of being demolished for a change. :)

Nice to see it again, my brother did his RMN training there in the nineties - I thought they were ripping it all down

Love this one

Super looking place...looks like it has new inmates now with their own keys!!Dunno anything about this place so now going googling....cheers for some ace pics

I think it's fairly obvious that other than the nurses home it is no longer derelict....and these were from january so that has probably been demoed or converted now as well

Nurses home south was still standing in october and likely still is now. It is now the only derelict structure on site since the demolition of the chapel and conolly house. The rest of the hospital buildings are privately occupied but the grounds are generally accessible.

Ohhhhhh it a Badjer Set for Bankers and their WAGS,they all live in a protected gated comunity, could be to keep them safe? from Sane law abiding got ripped off citizens. So the B(W)ankers have taken over the asylum.;)

napsbury conversion

i'm always curious as to how they look inside, do they retain any of the features that weren't trashed? wonder what the vibe is like too?! I work in a mental health hospital the was built at the turn of the century and is due for demolition once we have moved into the new hospital. Scuse my thickness but, i take it there is a process for the 'listing' of old buildings and that the NHS sell on the old properties as they can't knock them down? feel free to correct me if i'm way of the mark, i am blonde!:p

The nurses building is still standing. Only notice it today since the leaves have dropped.
There is however another derelict building in the middle of the estate.

Had a nose around today. Very wet due to the leaking water pipe.

Thants a bit of a sweeping statement, the only gated community there is onthe east hospital site and isn't a large proportion of the housing there. In fact theres also a proportion of social housing on site too as stipulated in the planning brief for the redevelopment.

Here are a couple of pictures from Napsbury on Sunday. I don't know the history of this building, nor why it wasn't redeveloped like the rest of the estate. The Nurses building is on the edge while this building is in the centre of the estate. The key cupboard reveals the names of the women that lived here, I suspect the place may be shut in 1995.
