I first went here in 2005 – (The shots are posted in here) but never entered the main building for safety reasons as I was alone.
Finally I went in with Darkscore and Light_arted this Sunday and spent 4 hours exploring.
It’s a big building with lots of rooms (Most of which have rotted floors), it’s a shell and quite shabby but it’s still enthralling to walk around.
We managed to evade the security but for a couple of close calls, one of which I was yards from being discovered and would have been had I not smelt his cigarette.
I took over 240 pics and have painfully picked these ones out.

The bell housing! The bell is gone but the hammer remains.

I spotted a water tower just out of sight behind the main building, and the pump room.

wheres is this place? i know 'barnes' but im assuming its not the barnes i know [near putney].

great pics.

Thanks! It's in Cheadle near manchester just off the A34. I'd been planning this trip for time! I pass it everyday on the way to work and have been keeping an eye on it. I was disheartened to see what looked like contractors caravans so work would start. I did a quick walk around and saw the site was actully full of gypsies. then a few days later they were gone so it was a now or never thing.

nice pics - this is one of the most thourogh reports ive seen on this place, nice one.

looks like a stunning building, with some interesting artefacts left amongst the rubble. and ive never seen the pump room before, good work.

Local landmark especially the clocktower,I assume its going to be developed into apartments,Its an impressive building even in this state and your shots confirm this,Any plans to upload more ?

I reckon this has got to be one of the best pieces of neo-gothic architecture I've seen...nicely understated yet atmospheric. It looks warm and welcoming too, for some reason. Love it!
Fabulous photos, Bignick. :)

Another vote for "through the clock" as the best in an impressive set. The scary cabinet's a "crash trolley" used to carry emergency equipment ready for use in a resuscitation attempt

Thanks everyone! Getting a digital slr has really paid off and i've been waiting over 4 years to get into this building.
With the current slump - I doubt any development will occur in the near future.
Here is the hdr version I did of the 'Looking back through time' pic! I Love that title and will use it from now on!
It is tempting to add more but will see, chances are they are areas covered by other explorers anyway!

I would like to join a regular team of explorers in the Northwest if anyone will have me?
