God knows
I was investigating a series of potentially interesting industrial leads in the Chesterfield area (watch this space perhaps?) and came across this fairly trashed but moochable industrial site nearby. I came across this ages ago, mostly from the numerous train journeys I take between Derby and Sheffield/Leeds, the line which passes the site.

Information on the site is particularly vague, its probably not even called Diversey (it was the only written word within this place!). The area adjacent to the site is a modern business park type area, so I assume this was a bigger place at one time. Its pretty dull by my personal standards, and probably won't interest many here but filled the gap until I can tackle the much larger site nearby. First solo in a while too.

Nothing more frustrating than passing a potential explore on a train. I suspect pulling the emergency stop because you want to urbex a site you've just seen will earn you a fine....

Some interesting machinery left there. Nice gantry crane, too.
The units look to be pretty big and quite old too...in fact they look a bit like hangars. This wouldn't be on or near an old airfield site, by any chance?
Cool pics, thompski. :)

You ought to have let me and Mendo know you were still down my way lol, and we'd have taken a look with you. :)

Excellent pics mate, I like this. I'm trying to think now whereabouts it is near the rail line lol.

Cheers,

:) Sal

I don't think it is a military site, looking at a 1930 OS map the area is undeveloped other then some sort of railway which uses a different line to the main railways... probably a tram system?

Watch this space, I've found a much bigger fish nearby :)

Diversey used to supply cleaning and hygiene products to the foods and beverage industries which I have used in dairies and cider plants. Not sure this place qualifies as either a dairy or a cider bottling plant!

Yeah I was thinking it might have been the cleaning product company, like I said this particular site holds few clues to what it actually is!

Love the stone cutting saws, Its been a while since I last worked one of them. They look like they were made by a Dutch company called VanVorden judging by the colour and the control panel (although Diavro made similar saws - usually blue). They are not that old because in the 4th photo the saw has an electronic carridge movement measuring unit fitted to it. They would have been mounted on walls with rails on and have a table underneath them that the stone would have sat on. They are worth a few quid. Unfortunatly the stone game is on it's arse at the moment which is why I'm not a stonemason anymore. If the site has been used for stone work then there should be water tanks and settleing tanks about the place

This place right next to the train track on Derby Road by any chance ?
Have passed a place via train , and have been wondering how easy it is to get onto the area
