I know that this has been done before by Bigloader and Sausage so I wont bore you with the history (but if you check out their report http://www.derelictplaces.co.uk/main/showthread.php?t=5358&highlight=Cambokeels its all there). I was passing it the other day so I thought I would take a look and see what was left. I just took a few surface photo's as a) I was on my own and b) I haven't got the boll**** to go into the mine... Anyway here's the photo's...

Only had 10 minutes to have a look around but there isn't much left to see. The buildings are empty and people have been fly tipping on the site but thanks for looking.

Cheers Jon

Blinking shame about the fly-tipping...the site looks a right old mess! :(
Absolutely love the loading ramp, though. That's a cracking pic of it taken from one end.
Nice pics all around, Jon. :)

Bloody hell that place gets worse ever time I go past! The rubbish is dreadful and last year someone burnt out the transformer house. You got some good pics mate, its always good to see shots from this one:)

The horse drift(?) doesn't go very far underground anyway, about 30 metres or so then splits into ttwo directions, both of which have collapsed a few metres in.
If are wanting to go underground go to the Nenthead mines, there's a few there that are accesible and are maintained / inspected regularly so no (or very little) danger.

Only the Carrs Level could claim to be safe as its the tourist one ran by the NPHT. The rest such as Smallcleugh, Rampgill, Capelcleugh, Brownley Hil, Nentsburyl etc have some real dangers. Sometimes digs do take place and falls are secured but its only done by a few guys when they get time, not on a regular basis so please we be very careful if heading into any of these mines. If you need any info or directions on the Nent mines give me a shout and I will try to help, meanwhile stay safe :)

Cheers foxy. Not bad for a point and shoot camera. Parkus I've been down kilhope mine and that was enough for me. That side of things is not my cup of tea mate, I'll leave it to the experts.

Cheers Jon

Jonney - Kilhope is plastic underneath! I got a bollocking off the guide for tapping the walls making everyone in the party realise it was fake....

Cambokeels gets worse by the day - it is simply too handy for the chavs/flytippers.

Still nice to see it though! :)

Yeah Sausage I noticed that but still I'll leave the underground stuff to you guys - the experts. You know what you are doing and I certainly don't. Some of my relative (long long ago dead and burried) used to work at killope mine, so I found out as my mam is doing the family history thing.

Ooo now that is interesting. I'm sure BigLoada is related to some bloke who worked over that way too.

Fancy a trip down an easy mine? No climbing, not too much water, quite easy to access and with some guides? Give us a shout. :)

Sounds interesting mate, I'm a bit busy at work at the minute but will PM you when I get some free time. you'll have to be gentle with me though (ooh er missus)
