OK, here's the quandry, go to church on Easter Sunday or go exploring? Oh well, my fate in hell has been sealed for a long time, so exploring it is then

I pass this place every day on my way to work, I think it is the remains of an abandoned fertilizer factory, (although no history on the web to be found), and to be honest there is not a huge amount to see, a couple of interesting features though.

If you look on Google Earth this is all that's left:

However if you look on Live Maps (taken approx 2000) then the original factory is still shown in situ:

Anyway, on with the photo's. The building as it is now:

Excellent pulley system still in place:

Unfortunately there were a few signigicant obstacles to reaching the upper floor, that being:

1. No steps or rope to help,
2. I am fat and idle
3. Extreme likelihood of simply finding myself amonst dead pigeon hell

So not a totally wasted morning, but had hoped for a bit more, but hey! Happy Easter everyone!!

How odd that just the one building has been left standing! You'd think they'd have taken the lot down...I wonder why!
Blinking interesting though...still lots of nice details left...including the doors to nowhere!
Fab pics, TK. :)

Thanks all, most kind. James, a 'little' tinkering with the colours, but not much mate. Thanks Foxy, it is an odd building, and whilst walking around it was quite clear where walls had been, it made you realise why the 'time team' people can find outlines of buildings even many years later. This site is likely to stay this way as it is prone to flooding and is rather out of the way, time will tell I guess.

I quite like the pic of the chute

I'll still say it, even after TK saying the area is prone to flooding. Possibly down to the fact that if the site is developed it could be made into a feature buildin gof the site? The old Marquis of Granby near Bamford/Sheffield has been flattened for development a while ago. But they left a small section that looked like they were going to make a house/flats out of it. Seemed strange when I first saw it.
