Abbey Meadows Water Tower, Leicester

I can't remember where I heard about this place, but I can't have been listening 'cause I thought it was in Derby, but it's in Leicester! Doh!

My Mum & Dad think it was probably part of an old pumping station, but I dunno. I thought maybe the tower was the pumping station, but where it was pumping the water to, I dunno.

It's at the end of a long road off Abbey Park Road and is really bashed up. The whole area is undergoing re-development and the tower is going to be done up (according to the developers) but you know what developers are like! They don't wanna spend anymore than they have to!

Whilst I was down there, 2 people came past walking their dogs and then a huge chav family came past with pitbulls. I swear I attract chavs. Or is it that they're just everywhere these days? One said to her Dad 'Is he a photographer?' Well, I did have my camera, so I certainly wasn't drawing the tower! Doh!

I'm glad I photographed it before all the re-development gets finished. There's a picture below of what the place is going to look like when it's finished. Should be nice.

That's a very nice tower, the redevolpment looks nice and not too gaudy too. Nice work!

Nice one on putting the Wolsey redevelopment pics up, after going there i was concerned if they were going to keep the tower and the chimney to work into the new site.
You should have had a look in, not much to see but its a lovely solid feeling building. (full of flies tho)

yeah... i live 3 minutes from this place
it was an amazing building before. It was still abandoned but as kids we used to play hide and seek in there .
I got lots of images before it got knocked down. had some amazing graffeti inside.

i had lots of great shots of the graffiti in this place. im not one for liking messy painted walls but this was artwork not your random scriblings.
