Built in 1876, the amusingly-named Gusset Building was built as a warehouse for the Scottish Co-operative Wholesale Society, the first purpose-built warehouse of it's type in Scotland. The SCWS quickly outgrew the space, though, so it was converted to offices for various Co-operative Society operations, including the in-house magazine and later the ground floor was used for funerals. The building is now empty, and is up for sale with plans to convert to 75 flats, but current economic climate, blah blah blah...

It was at this point that I spotted the wee red glow of a PIR, and decided that running away was the better part of valour, stopping for just one more picture...

More, as usual, in my Flickr set.

Run! Run! To the beat of the drum!

Nice report, love the old lifts exposed with their warning signs, some very nice historical features in there.

Good work.

I don't think it was that long ago - those training books for funeral directors were 2000+. They only moved across the street :)

Brilliant pics. Love the old fire extinguisher! Think I'd have had that up my jumper! :)

Thats down at Tradeston if memory serves me correctly.(?)

Cheers :)

Dieter - I thought the name - "Scottish Co-operator" was a bit creepy - you will be assimilated...

Yeah, I also felt there was something a bit off about "Scottish Co-operator". I wonder if that's what I am, although I am often rather uncooperative.
