As I am sure most of you are aware, the former Boots P.Q.D lab in Nottingham is being demolished. Me and peter paid a visit with 85 Vintage (thanks :)) To see how it was progressing. Around half of the building is gone now, with a fair chunk missing. One or tow rooms remain intact however. And I was pleased to see a scanning electron microscope
We also did several other sites which I will get roound to posting soon, before meeting up with Ashless, Kaputnik and The_Revolution for something a little more "hardcore" ;)
I will let the pictures do the talking:

We then moved onto the laundry-type room, where I took this photo

I took all of these photos with my nice new Sigma 10-20, I recommend that you all rush out and get one

Thanks for looking :)

I love that last one Peter :) I was bleeding too much to take a picture, go on! Put the picture of my bleeding finger up

Nice one James & Peter. I noticed the demolition was progressing nicely when passing later in the day. Only a few weeks ago I was stood in the lab, (in Peter's 2nd photo), taking pictures of the fume orange cabinet at the end.

Good riddance, it's a horrible building, some really aren't worth saving. Although most of my resentment comes from the fact that in several visits I've not managed to any good photos from the place. :) Except maybe this one.

Did anyone rescue the famous rubber duck from the basement....?

Excellent pics James. Me and Mendo still haven't got here, looks like it's too late now.

I don't suppose you had a look at the former Gentleman's club, which is the lovely red stone building on the opposite side to this of the courtyard did you? Every time I've had a look, it's a no go. Although with the demo of the boots part, that may help a little?

Cheers,

:) Sal

Was good to meet up with james and peter. Good pics from you both. Kind of a shame it's gone as there was some nice bits in there. But as The_Revolution said it's ot exactly the nicest building to look at from the outside.

I'm not sure, maybe someone has, but the basement was a no go today. The part with the roller cabinets and the basement were in the part that's flattened.

Where abouts is that? Can you put a flashearth link? Can't picture it from your description

It was demanded that I rescued the ducks for a certain mister Ric, however I didn't bother :p

The building certainly doesn't make one want to sing from the rooftops (though it was possible when I visited) - I think 'Lady Progress' is going a good thing here. For the record I believe the proposed redevelopment is an office development by Wilson Bowden, though considering their lack of progress on projects elsewhere in the Midlands I expect the site will be cleared for a car park for the time being.

Nice little place this, its not every day you get to explore a lab. I'm intrigued into what you and those cheeky swines from Derby got up to later on ;)

Sorry 85, I thought the Boots building was in a group of buildings just off Alfreton Road, not down near the canal. doh, it was late when I posted though, so that's my excuse for getting the locations totally wrong.

But, here's the flashearth link to a former gentlemens club (we're guessing, it looked like that's what it said very faintly when I looked) on Thackery Street.

It's this building, directly under the cross. Has some nice stonework on the outside too. :)

Great pics lads, though I was somewhat amused to look at Urbex photos and spot my mate's old machine there (the 300LCV)

He had his very first close call there!

That "gentleman's club" was actually a nightclub Sal, I used to go to the place on the same street when I was doing Motor Vehicle Maintenance.

It was called "The One Club" and it was demolished a few months ago.
