Whilst visiting Birmingham recently, I passed this place and could not resist popping in for a look.

I have no idea what company occupied the building, or when they vacated it but it looks to have been empty for a long time. There were no clues left inside.

Perhaps somebody on here knows the history and can fill us in.

It is located on Cardigan Street just off the inner ring road.

Demo is well underway, I noticed that a lot of the decorative stonework has been saved and is packed up on pallets.

Yep, that's the old Co-Op weights and scales factory. Originally a furniture factory, then changed to the manufacture of scales. Did you see all the weighing equipment in the basement? Should be in a museum!!!!:)

Did it a few months aog, still would have loved to see it before the fire. :(

Looks like they've dome'd a shit load at the back of the tower too. Fuckers
