Drove past here today and said to my wife it wouldn't be long before you were in, if you hadn't been already. How right I was  In fact I pretty much nailed the time and day :p

Ha, too right, this one went right to the top of my to-do list :)

Cheers - they were an amazing thing to find in a dark corner of the sheds. They're mounted on pivots with a huge gearwheel so they can be rotated...

i have a look at this every day an that last shot is wicked an eveytime i look at all i think is when can i get to scotland! again smashing work ben

The stairways are excellent. Dead switchgear and best of all - rivets - rivets holding immense round machinery together. (can you tell I like rivets?)

Such a good set of pics. Thanks for sharing. :)

Aye, it's not proper engineering unless it's held together with great big rivets - this modern welding rubbish just doesn't cut it...

Some great shots as usual Ben.
Excuse my ignorance, but how do the rag boilers fit in with the paper making process?

Some papers (banknotes, for example) are made partly or wholly from cotton fibres instead of wood fibres - it's stronger and more durable...

Thought it looked familiar, when you said "Rag Boilers", I was pretty sure.

Spent a lot of time in the sister plant, and it looked pretty much the same, although at the time there were 8 massive machines, some still steam driven even in the 90's.

Bet they smell the same, and that they both contain the elusive Mill Cricket .

lol. A Scottish Mill. Quality stuff Ben, another cracking site.
