Police called to disused factory

Police were called to the disused Campbells soup factory in Kings Lynn last week when an off duty officer spotted two suspected lead thieves on the top of the iconic water tower.

Asked about the incident Sgt Runningwithabaton said “We responded to a call from an off duty officer who reported suspicious activity on the roof while stuck at roadworks. Arriving on site we were intrigued by the presence of several caravans and immediately suspected thieving pikeys.” Police searched the grounds of the factory and found two individuals with camera equipment in the administration block.”

The individuals were thoroughly searched camera equipment was dismantled and pockets turned out though no lead, tools or any other illegal items at all could be found. “It was very exciting” remarked a PCSO “Its the closest I've ever come to preventing a crime!”

Site security officer Unobservant Said “I was shocked to hear people had been seen on the roof I didn't even know we had a roof.” “I have no idea how they could have got up there, It must have been very unsafe.” The site which ceased production in 2008 is due to be demolished to expand the empire of a neighboring supermarket chain.

Explaining their presence in the buildings Photographer Mr Williams 20 From Newport said ”We were in the area and really fancied a tin of soup, we were extremely disappointed that Tescos didn't stock it anymore so we thought we'd try here as it was right next door. But I couldn't believe it there wasn't any soup in here either.”

When asked about how they got up the tower fellow Photographer Mr Collier 23 from Chester said “we took the stairs all the way to the top to make sure there was no soup up there” “I really didn't think there would be all this fuss if I'd known I would just have settled for a tin of Heinz soup instead.”

The presence of the mysterious caravans has yet to be explained...

This looks pretty interesting. Why are there so few pictures though? Surely there's more to see on a site this size? Love the write up by the way. Would I be wrong to assume that not everything contained within is entirely fictional?

ive always thought to myself "this place looks abandoned" when i drive past on the way to work whenever in in kings lynn. might have to check it out now i know it is. nice report and pictures too. i take it u mean tescos have bought it :( why do they have to buy every bit of land and near any of their stores just to go and level it. u know they wont do anything with it afterwards. its the same story in diss next to the morrisons site. bet it was fairly dodgy up on that water tower with the road being so close ;)

It was sadly pretty stripped in there, We'd just missed the chance to get in before the scrap man came. I'll stick a few more pictures up when I get the chance.

The writeup contains lots of facts. Sometimes they can be stranger than fiction...
