There has been a steelworks in Brymbo, near Wrexham, for over 200 years. The site is now being redeveloped, but some original areas remain - officially heritage areas, but very little seems to be happening to save them.

Deep in a wooded valley, a loading platform.



In a stone building with a dodgy floor, I found the pattern store.





Some giant crucibles sit on a little bit of railtrack.





The engine was missing from this :rolleyes:



The two blast furnace chimneys.



And a giant wooden pattern as tall as me - the mould for the inside of a crucible I think.

 
I must pull my finger out and get myself up to Brymbo, FFS I can almost see it from where I live.
 
Nice shots there Ben - you've been busy lately!
Like the crucibles and I bet that pattern shop was pretty interesting.
 
I do love patterns - they're the DNA of the company. We (the Clyde Heritage Trust) try to save as many patterns as we can...
