Sadly it's been well pikey'd.

This was one of the mines that fed Longannet Powerstation. Not 100% sure when it shut, but the last date in a signing in book we found was in Nov '01. All the original mining equipment is long gone, plenty of plastic tracks and conveyer belt lying around though. The giant fan is still in place, the electric engine than powered it is gone. A number of buildings had been gutted by fire.

Shame there's not much left.

There were quite a few mines and drifts surrounding the powerstation that have gone completely so at least there's something to see here. Although there's planning in I think for the lot to demolish the rest and redevelop.
