Hi all, what a lovely morning to nearly sh*t oneself!

I was after an easy explore having had a week from hell at work, I was also after seeing if the old yellow truck I could see on Google would still be there, so I headed North to Newbridge quarry at Pickering.

Not long into my explore I heard a car draw up round a corner, and at first you think ‘Hmm, security’ then a bloke gets out of it with a rifle over his shoulder. So, the mind goes into overdrive, thinking at best it’s security and he will just tell me to piss off, at worst I might be about to enter a ‘Deliverance’ style experience, the sort which makes it hard to sit down for a while.

As he is walking up the hill towards me I thought ‘f*ck it, and I walked confidently up to him and said ‘Good morning’, he smiled, rather taken aback and said ‘Is this where the rifle club are meeting today?’ Thanks fook for that! We exchanged pleasantries, and I went on my way, bum intact.

Anyway, enough of this idle banter, on with the piccies:

Wow! Nice photos! I studied Geology at uni; Would love to have a mooch round here.

why would they leave quarry trucks there? surely they must have been be worth some money

Second hand you can pick them up for about £30,000 up over depending on specification so I don't think they would have just left them there. They have been moved recently as well as you can see the tyre tracks

It's very much a live quarry, so those heavy machines work for a living. Often quaries will have old trucks however, usually to transport either water or fuel around the site, and where there is an old truck you will find me taking pictures of it!

nice foden! is it me or does it look like someone has fallen down those steps bleeding heavily?

Cool find TK, the Foden is great:) like the bunds, I think?!, in fact probably the best bunds i've seen in a long time:mrgreen:

I hope that who ever fell down those steps got to a derelict first aid box quick enough:p

Ha, bleeding steps! Thats just what I thought, hence the picture. These places are health and safety crackers, there are always tons of signs everywhere, and I guess the steps had been repainted at sometime, certainly made me smile! King Al, you can NEVER have enought bunds mate!
