This Pumping Station stands close to the River Yare just in the Southern Outskirts of Norwich. A very ornate Building but very secure as well:(. It was built in 1909 and must have housed a rather large Beam Engine of some sort. It was capable of pumping over 5 Million Gallons a Day.

Yus. You may
PM me what time'd be good for you. I shall confer with the old man when he brings me food.

Damn, can I swap blokes?? Haha.
Actually Jon's a very good cook, and does fabulous cakes. It's just 'cause he works and I don't, I cook.
But I like it. I do a yummy roast beef :)

greta picture there BS. could you see inside enough to see if any of the engines or pump equipment was still in place. most of these building when built had the beam ect put in place during construction and moving these things at the end of their life is a very monumental task.

im a volenteer at the Abbey pumping station in leicester and we have 4 massive beam engines built in 1892 by gimsons. the flywheels are 21ft across and 21tons each

Thats right Wayne. Unfortunately the Beam Engine has been removed but its still a gorgeous building no matter what. I have been to the Abbey Station and its quite overwhelming. I really wished I could have got in and I am considering contacting the right Authority to see if they would allow me access.

Some cool pics BS - my other half and I went there a couple of months ago - looks interesting inside. Perhaps we should re-do a recce for access?

While I was there Man there was a bloke come past and I asked him whether he knew anything about the Pumping Station. He said had I tried to get in. I replied that I had only taken some Exterior shots that was all. He the amazed by saying that the place was not all that well secured as wel because there were some kids in there recently and some Homeless people as well. So in answer to you I think it may be well worth another look as it really is a Magnificent Building. I could see inside through the Bars and I guess that was what whetted the appetite even more, its bloody Majestic!
