This 200 Year old site closed earlier this year with the loss of 150 Jobs, Victoria Ironworks was acquired by William Henry Wesson in 1898 and he ran the works under the name of Wessons.

Recently the works had been running as a steel mill rolling bar for automotive, hydraulic and engineering uses from steel produced elsewhere. Its unusual to find quite this much of a rolling mill left intact which makes this a great place to visit.

That looks a fantastic explore!

Fantastic, great shots.

Love those cheeky pockets of primary colour dotted about.
:)

Impressive and pristine pics. Anything known about future plans for the site?

Great stuff of industrial goodness :)

Sad to see another piece of our working Industrial Heritage has bitten the dust though :(

Thanks for sharing Reaps.

Excellent report and a very interesting site.

I didn't think there were any places like this left. One thing that strikes me is a lack of safety for the workers - badly fitted guards, poor lighting etc. i wonder if the works came a cropper due to the modern day requirements of health and safety law? That and cheap foreign competition...

A few on here will know that I like nothing better than a big electric motor or two - this report has satisfied my needs for a few weeks. ;)

Thanks for sharing.
