before visiting forest mills later in the day we went to clipstone colliery was not sure what to expect when dhl took me here but i was actually very chuffed was a good place and we had some fun unfortunately did not make the climb up the headstocks which im kinda wishing we had but it was very windy (thats the excuse im using at least lol)

these headstocks were created in the 1950's they are 65 metres tall and at the time of building they were the second tallest in the world. this mine was in operation untill 2003 when it became no longer economical.

it looks like these headstocks will soon be demolished for a business park even though at one point they were protected by conservation order.

really nice pics claire well done,il get the pic of your bum up while you was climbing down when i get 5 mins :mrgreen:
 
im not sure ive always been rubbish at reasearch. i didnt see anything about it.
