    Default NGTE Pyestock, August 2010

Oh no, not another Pyestock report!!

Itís funny how you can get attached to certain sites, and from the very first time I saw images of NGTE at Pyestock, I knew it was a very special place.

Iíve been 3 times now, once solo, and twice with my regular partner in crime Urbanity, along with a few others on the most recent trip.

The thing that always sticks in my mind when walking around Pyestock, is that every single last detail on the site, every pipe, switch, dial and Turbine was purpose made just for this site, and is totally individual.
Perhaps thatís what makes this Petro-chemical and asbestos riddled industrial monolith just so appealing!

As for the history of the site, www.ngte.co.uk is the most informative and in depth source of information available anywhere.

The future of what is one of the most important industrial sites ever built, now lies in the hands of Prupim and Prologis, who intend to clear the site and built a large distribution centre, all in the name of progress!
A few photoís, some of which may have been seen before, (sorry!)

I never tire of seeing photos of this place. Keep 'em coming whilst there's still stuff to see.

Still one of my favourite explores, an amazing site with sooooooo many areas to explore and so many remnants to see. We spent around ten hours in the place and really only scratched the surface.

Nice to see it's still explorable, although I gather with much more care than the early days :)

New reports and photos always welcome!

Been told on the unofficial grapevine, that demo work is now on hold.
Apparently the developers can't afford the 8 figure demo and clean up price tag!!

There is one gurkha who sits in the cabin, and one who isn't, who told one of my co-explorers last time - after a bungled first attempt at entry - that he regularly does patrols just to get away from him!

There is also a Jeep they drive around in but you can hear it from a mile off.

If/when they even start the process of clearing the site, it'll be a good couple of years before it finally goes at the least!

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
