Shamlessley stolen off jST as he tells it so well;

jST said:
A big day was on the cards as three intrepid souls: Nij, KooK and I set off to invade South Yorkshire from across its Northern border intent on conquering some of the jewels in Sheffield's industrial crown.

After a number of false starts, some wrong turns and run ins with security at various sites we eventually managed to find our way into Guanocliffe sorry... Wharnecliffe Works by accident (as reported here by Nij)

After a bite, a pint and a bask in the late summer sunshine we tasked ourselves with the day's prize: George Barnsley Tools.

History can be found here and there are numerous reports to be found on this site.

I tried to capture the colourful details that were lying around as it was such a gloomy place with its darkly stained hardwood rackings, work benches and the like. Other reports have highlighted the dark mood, so I thought I'd attempt to do the reverse.

Nuts to that, ima gon get me some gloom;

I took over 200 pics and after vutting them down there still seams like thousands, so did my owh report rather than killing yours [ame]http://www.derelictplaces.co.uk/main/showthread.php?p=166288#post166288[/ame]

Some good images and thanks for the link.. You have got stuff we have missed.. Just a note for people this place is getting more unsafe, and is a no go in the daytime and if you are going to do the basements good footwear and erm a good powerful torch..

Cheers guys. We went in the basement and its quite a nice structure. I went all the way through and got covered in muck climbing through the really small fireplace sized openings into the furthest rooms, just to see another water pump! You're right about the safety though, especially the external walkways, all very dodgy. Luckily there are plenty of ways around in this place.

I love that basement and the structure time just ends as you go in the last big one one for us was 6 hours and just hundreds of images, this place is just wonderful but please here what is been said take care..

u guys are great

thank you so much for this post...

i am going to do a portrait shoot in sheffield this weekend and a location like this looks amazing for what i want. can you give me any information on access and security... also how much time do you think i would have to set up studio lights... is that a little optimistic maybe?

if you can suggest any other locations in the sheffield area i would be very very appreciative.

thanks,

As KooK SHAMELESSLY nicked my text :mrgreen:, which included my intentions for the photos I took I thought I'd post them up here too.
