CE Electric UK is a wholly owned subsidiary of MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company and operates through its subsidiary companies Northern Electric Distribution (NEDL) and Yorkshire Electricity Distribution (YEDL), which delivers electricity to 3.8 million customers in the North East of England, Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

In 2008 a fire knocked out electricity for 2500 people and there has since been demolition orders due to fire and water damage issued on the building.

Plans are to turn the area into a temporary car park until office units are errected.
