Explored with Bugsuperstar, Kitty, Squirrel and Solomon.
The day started out with us trying to explore Harehills library. One crazy AP later after some amazing feats of ladder acrobatics and Bug sacrificing his shorts to the fence Gods, the five of us found ourselves in a pigeon and poop filled room. We were on the second floor with no access to the main building and the stairs had collapsed. So after some more ladder acrobatics we found ourselves in another pigeon and poop filled room with no access to the main building on the ground floor. We had actually got into some old public baths attached to the library.
After failing at getting in we headed over to Denso in Armley. The Denso Corporation is a global automotive components manufacturer headquartered in the city of Kariya, Japan. Their factory in Armley specialised in making parts and car radiators for Toyotas, they have since moved to new premises in Shipley where they also constructed the Denso Marston Wildlife Park, a three-hectare strip of land that runs between the new factory extension and the river Aire.
It was another difficult AP, but once inside Squirrel made sure we had a quick exit planned as Bug and I had spotted on-site security in an out building.
It’s a pretty huge place that’s been fairly well stripped, but it was good for a mooch about and there were some interesting points.
We found some offices, and from outside we’d spotted a medical bay and went to try and find it, which led Kitty to step in a huge puddle…sorry!
There were sensors on a lot of the doors, and at one point Squirrel reckoned he tripped a PIR, but we decided to carry on regardless.
We’d spotted an older part of the factory across a small courtyard so Squirrel and I went to investigate, once we’d found access he went back to fetch the others and spotted the security guard, but wasn’t spotted. He came hurtling back towards me and we made a run for it.
Bug and Sol all got collared and Kitty turned herself in, but Squirrel and I made good use of our exit strategy and hightailed it to a café across the road where we had a good view of the factory.
RUN!
The police had been called and the three of them were made to delete their pictures. They were escorted of site and upon discovering us in the café I think the exact phrase used was “You bastards!” such language from a lady!
All in all a good explore with an ending we could all laugh about later as we moved onto our next site the old cinema and bingo hall in Shipley.
