went up to the old mine today (see other threads for history) and unfortunatly the workers from the mine company were up there sealing off all the buildings, we managed to get a few shots of their handy work before we were rumpled and asked to leave. preperation for future mining and demolition of the existing buildings has begun, gutted to see this place go.

shots of new "doors" below.

Why would they ask you to leave, theres a public footpath goes right throught middle of the place.

yeh we did say that to them, but we were asked to leave, so to save causing a scene we went without any fuss, we were still escorted though.

the path goes through th mine perimeter, and they asked us to leave the mine despite the fact we are allowed to use the path. rather than cause a fuss and say it was a public path etc we decided to leave as they weren't exactly friendly :(

I doubt they were mine workers then, they would have know people could walk through unmolested. You could report that you know. Looking at the barriers they have put up does not impress me any one with a screwdriver could remove them by the look of things even a small bolt cropper. Seem like a bunch of armatures to me.

well the guys that asked me to leave were they guys putting the new blockades up, they said they were from the mining company, so yeh, decided to leave without causeing any issues. yeh i did notice it wasn't too hard to remove them, might go and have another look at it soon, but still planning it etc.
