A few photos which I took back in 2005 of the old brick works in Wombwell, near Barnsley. I don't know anything about this place except for the fact that it's rumoured to be demolished at any time. Hopefully this isn't true - it would be a good piece of history lost for no reason.

From a distance:

Plain but nice chimney. Plenty of metal banding:

And finally, the end product:

Hope these are of interest to people :)

Nice - I like brickworks.

Unusual to see one with a chimney stack in tact. Generally they blow them up 'for safety reasons'.

I seemed to have missed this posting for some strange reason. I really like brickworks too.
It's a great find as it looks fairly intact, and I don't think there are a lot like this left remaining. It would be a crying shame if it was demolished as it's a fantastic piece of history. Looks wonderful all overgrown like that too.
Cheers. :)

Just heard today that work is starting this week to pull the chimney down because it's unsafe. What a shame. I'm surprised it's unsafe - plenty of banding on there.

At least they're keeping the kilns.
