Had a quick nosey around the old colliery near Aylesham the other day, alot of the buildings were pulled down when the mine closed, but some still remain, albeit just shells.

The surronding landscape feels almost lunar, being costructed of mounds of slag. The site now has special protection due to the amount of lichens growing, it is bizarre it grows like grass on the slag.

There are plans to turn part of the site into an industrial park like all the other disused pits in te area.
