Evening people, kinda new to this, so not sure where to put this building.
Started life as an electricity generating building and finished up as a shop selling lighting.
Due to be demolished late this year/early next year although there was attempts to stop that happening our beloved council aggreed to demolition of it.
Also situated right next to a car park, which is based in the former buildings car park i presume.
Anyone been inside? Would like to have a look round before it goes under the wreckers.
Little more info on it here including a floor plan as well

I took a look at this place a couple of weeks back, its secure at
the moment but there does appear to be signs that it has been
open in the past. One to keep an eye on. Shameful that they
can even contemplate demolition.

Should be easy enough to keep an eye on, I pass it almost every day of the week.
Might be able to get in around the rear of the place or through the car park next to it

Well found Pagan, that is a beautiful building:), I think this is one of those occasions where the council only sees the size of the plot and the location and misses history, design, connection with the town, etc, etc:mad:. A real shame:cry:-sign the petition:idea:

See I grew up in Bath and lived there for 20 years, and the part they don't tell you is that this and the whole row of buildings behind it have been empty for the past 15 years or so.

Obviously being empty that long it means that they're not really viable as useable buildings so something needed to be done, along with the 1960s atrocity that is the southgate centre (which is also going thankfully).

I don't have a problem with them knocking it down and making better use of the space, what I have a problem with is the architecturally piece of shit building that they want to replace it with.

The whole area needs regenerating for sure, but in a georgian style, not shitty contemporary rubbish that ages horribly and will look as bad in 25 years as the 1960s shite it's replacing.

Yeah, you tell 'em, Krela!

Sorry but town planners really piss me off. It's all too much financial politics and not enough actual care for the buildings and environment we live in.

They have stupid rules for people who want to build extensions to their houses and things, then let utter atrocities be built with public money in public spaces.

They should all be shot, particularly any counsellor who serves on a development committee. Totally corrupt, the whole fucking lot of them.

/rant over ;)

Thanks for the "heads up". Sometimes the proposed demolition of a building defies logic -this is one of these times.
Regeneration is fine, but why not incorporate buildings worthy of retention, instead of taking the unimaginative approach of nuking the whole area and whacking up either yet more generic buildings, or out-of-place buildings which have no regard for the surrounding area, don't blend in, and are an extension of the Architect's ego!!!
