Construction of Huncoat Power Station began in 1950 and it was opened in 1956. Situated on the Burnley coalfield meant that the power station had a ready supply of local coal, and until 1968 was served by a half mile railway line to Huncoat Colliery.

The Power Station had a fairly short life, closure coming in 1984. The cooling towers were brought down in 1988 and the main buildings were demolished in 1990, apart from the main building which remains, although it is in a terrible state, and almost entirely covered in graffiti.

Was a spur of the moment thing, passed the place many times en route to work and always wondered how it looked.

Nice selection of photos aswel :)

Nice one mate! So now I've seen it. Truth to tell I wouldn't have known it was there until you told me!!!

Good work.

Its one of those places that you could drive by everyday and not know its there, but when you do know about it you wonder how you missed it! :)

I love the look of this place and you seem to have captured it well!

had to look twice at the last shot, I thought it was a pair of legs!

Haha cheers, yea when I saw it in the frame, I got that, so I just went with it, I have another shot which focuses on the building whilst blurring the 'legs'.....a little more effective :p

Your definately gettin about mate....luvly job, again!

Thanks, I had done a few explores for a college course I was doing, and got the bug so to speak, then I found this site.

Now, with quite a bit of help from TeeJF I've been able to post reports. There's a few more too :p

You have been busy! It is trashed but somehow appealing, i think the grafitti adds to it, tho im not usually a fan, i think it brightens the place up. Great pics :)
