I know it's been done to death, and although this isn't my first post, it was my first explore, so I thought it only right that I upped the pics.

Holding Brothers Pottery
The Broughton Barn Pottery was founded on a large clay deposit on the windswept moors of Oswaldtwistle, this was dug, blended, washed and processed on site before it was thrown into pots. The Holding involvement came in 1842 with a small pottery nearby then 18 years later they moved to the current location, also building 5 workers cottage on the site.

In later days it seems that they also tried to incorporate a small cafe and shop on site but this could not stop the demise of the pottery and it closed sometime in the 1980’s everything has been left in situ and seems to be slowly collapsing in on itself.

Surely it won't be long before this place is beyond exploring, really is bad!!

Cracking pics mate! Nice to see some stuff still worth photographing there ;)

Thanks for posting them up :)

I cant believe a building in that state still has so many quality details / artifacts!
It looks like the mortar has nearly rotted awaycompletely! Fantastic shots, especialy loving the typewriter & goggle shots :)

It's looking a bit thinner under foot in the twelve months since we were there so I'm wondering if the chavs are pinching stuff. The owner threw a hissy fit in the LET last year complaining about urb-exers and accusing them of nicking/vandalism. But it's staggering how many extremely personal artifacts there are in the place like his graduation photo from uni for example. It's a wierd place.

Some nice pix there mucker!

Congrats on ya first explore mate!:)
