For you next instalment from the Sunny Isle of Wight, part 2 of a derelict factory here on the Island. I decided to brake the report down into 3 sections, firstly because of the size of the place and because it falls into 3 categories of interest. I started with the WW2 “workers defences” In other words Air Raid Shelters............you can re-cap by following here (Part 1) [ame]http://www.derelictplaces.co.uk/main/showthread.php?t=21903[/ame]

Before I start please if you know where this is then keep it to yourself, if you do not then enjoy and please don’t be offended if I don’t answer. It was not quite a permission visit more of a blend in with hard hat and yellow jacket, I don’t want to get any one in trouble.......... so no history with this one to give it away just some photos.

Nice find and great pics. Heres another one of the site for you, the 1945 aerial photo

;)

Just done some research on the site and found that it was owned by Saunders Roe and was used for Seaplane manufacture from the early 1930's. During WWII the hulls for the Supermarine Walrus and Supermarine Sea Otters were manufactured there. Seaplane manufacture on the site died out in about 1952.
