Samuel Wilkinson started his own brickworks with his sons Arthur and Fred as managers. Wilkinson’s bricks became known worldwide. In 1982 they celebrated their centenary but sadly they were taken over by Butterly Bricks in 1983 and then closed in 1985. The site has had other uses since! But for how long I don't know. It's current use is a playground for the chavs, photographers on model photo shoots and general unsavoury types scavenging for any scrap they can get their hands on.
I had heard a while back that the place was due a visit from the good old wrecking crew! And today whilst driving close by I spotted the chimney poking out above the tree line. A quick detour and i was soon there. Never take rumours for granted.......... It still stands. This prompted me to shove up a report with pics from 2 seperate visits that have been sat on the old comp, and are in no particular order. I would recommend that local urbex'rs visit here only!! As It just aint worth the travel unless you have other irons in the fire up that way.

It looks rather nice from the outside.
Inside is a different kettle of fish though....... It's what ya call battered!
They did make bricks though.
The place is ram jam full of graff.
I must admit it brightens the place up.
It constantly changes too.... These are some of the better one's.
The light is good in here.
Long exposure..... It's not easy trying to keep perfectly still. "Beam me up Scotty"
The only thing holding this place together seems to be the steel girders.
Let's av a butchers out back.
It's a bit grim.
