I'm afraid I can't tell you anything about this place, the history, or even what type of factory it was!
It was beside a quarry, so maybe connected..

I hope someone on here will be able to explain what this place actually is, anyway it's well worth a visit if you're in the area.
 
Shipton-on-Cherwell Cement Works, it was half demolished in the 1990s but work halted after they found rare wildlife on the site so it became an SSSI, apparently though recently it was decided to demolish the rest, doesn't look like much has been done
 
these must be old pictures. I was there late December 2012, and some parts in these pictures are not there anymore.
 
I took these pics last summer, (sorry, should have mentioned that in the post)
I'm gutted to hear it's been demolished, I was planning a re-visit... what's left of it now?
It's good to know what it was used for at last!

Shame i really like the look of that place with the huge impossing concrete towers...luv the shot of the concrete reinforcing bars poking out and bits of metal stuck on them!:mrgreen:
