A return visit to Maenofferen (last visited April 2012)...and there's been a few changes since my last visit. The canteen/office building has been demolished and large quantities of slate waste have been dumped around the main buildings. In addition, the tunnel entrance at the rear of the main buildings (that had the old weighing scales next to it) has been sealed up with several tons of slate waste.

Couple of photos:

Great photos!
Did you get a chance to look in that cleft to the east of the main buildings? There's some really old looking buildings down there, but I don't know what else..

That's the Main Incline, I think? There's a tunnel (recently blocked up with slate waste) through to that area from the Main Sheds. Slate was brought up the Incline from underground on wagons and then taken through the small tunnel into the Sheds for cutting etc.

Unfortunately, since the small tunnel was blocked up, there's no easy way of getting to those buildings in the cleft.
