This was the first visit of the day while out with Magpie421, LeedsExplorer, Renrutt and H1971. It was stupidly cold and my heavy duty boots decided to start taking in water about 5 minutes after getting out the car - 'This better be good' I told damp-socked self. I was not disappointed though. The colliery has something for everyone. There are 3 main buildings that make up the site; two rough and dirty side buildings in a nice state of natural decay complete with foliage growing out of the brickwork, and a larger central building which housed the cleaner control areas. There was the massive towers for the avid climber and more dials, buttons and industrial gubbins than you could shake a stick at. ...I was in my element. As it happened, tiredness, bitter bitter cold and onlookers pointing at us and making phone calls put me off making the tower climb but I made a pact with myself to return as soon as an opportunity presents itself and get to the top.

Now, on with the pics...
