The John Bull Rubber Co Ltd was formed originally in 1906 as the 'Leicester Rubber Co and renamed in 1934. Original 1906 trade names were 'Swift' and 'Swan' with the John Bull trade mark being registered in 1908. By 1915 the company had opened its own manufacturing plant where they produced solid perambulator tyres but it was the early 1920's before they produced their first pneumatic tyre which was for cycles, and 1928 when they first produced motor and motorcycle tyres.
