This toolmakers was established back in 1836 and opened at this location in 1852. Local records show the business originally being a manufacturer of files although the product line eventually expanded to include butchers knives and all manner of leather working tools. Trading was finally ceased in 2004 and the building has been lying dormant ever since save the occasional vagrant and ne’er-do-wells using it as temporary lodgings.

Walking around the building feels like stepping back in time with works of carpentry all around and a Victorian feel to every room and fixture. Complementing the tones of the wood I was treat to the sight of golden sun pouring through the tall windows and lighting the rooms beautifully.

As is usually the case given how long I take to set up a shot, by the time people were ready to go I was only about half way through the place. I got a few quick shots as I made my way out but will certainly have to return for a second visit sometime soon - Thinking about rolling it in with plans to do lightpainting down Megatron possibly.

Hope you enjoyed the reports as much as I enjoyed exploring and photographing the place. It's a really refreshing change to see a UK site with so much left as it was and (relatively) unvandelised.

Well done on getting in here, I took one look at that drop down and decided to go for breakfast instead!

Awesome shots as always, cheers for posting them up! :)
