On 1st November 2012, building materials giant Hanson Aggregates announced that it would be cutting 250 Jobs. The restructure is to involve:

Aggregates: Mothballing of Shardlow, Tytherington, and Sutton Courtenay quarries and closure of Hingston Down and South Molton concrete block works; production breaks during 2013 at a number of sites to match predicted demand; restructure of the operations and commercial management team under four area general managers.
The quarry shut down early in December 2012, and the future remains uncertain.

Finally got round to seeing this place after a fail a short time back when workers were on site till late in the evening. Quite a smallish site buildings wise, but some interesting features.

Place is only round the corner from me and I've been in the place picking up sand before now. Place does not look that closed down and they only opened a new pit the other side of the road in recent years.
