This used to be a museum, now it seems to be rusting away.

    Default A bit of History....

It was a working mine until 1977 and closed as a museum in 1993, so you are seeing 20 years of decay and nature taking over. It would cost a fortune to save it......... WHat we are trying to do as Friends of Chatterley Whitfield is to keep the place alive. Let people know it still exists -----JUST !

Default Access to Former Museum Site

As a member of the Friends of Chatterley Whitfield we have limited access to the site and thought it may be worthwhile posting some pictures of the place which bring the forum up to date. If I have done wrong I apologise .

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
