People in Birmingham will know the building, it's not a code name anyway.

All the time wondering what was behind the boarding.

Not much really, but as demolition signs have been posted up, I thought I best get on with photographing the insides!

Didn't stay too long as I had other things to do and there is only so much of an empty building that can keep you interested.

It looked very rust free/modern wiring, possibly renovated for cold war? It's the only one I have seen in the City Centre.

Theres a few of these sirens in my local town plomped on top of most tall public buildings, the were used for flood warnings here as Im near the sea and a river and have been there as long as I remember (25+ years). Used to test these a few times a year 9am and 4pm on the day. Funding cuts meant they fell into disrepair, my nearby one stopped working and recently I have heard no others go off again probably as they phone you now in event of a flood so wouldn't surprise me if they have jacked in the system all together.

If this isnt near any rivers etc, it would be interesting to know its reason for being there?

It's close to a canal and a storm drain (200m away), but the storm drain has never flooded (to my knowledge) in that area.
