I was looking for a chilled out spot to pass a couple of hours today, mostly to get a little better aquainted with my new camera, and so La Porte seemed like a good option. It's a little gem of an industrial site, ok so it's not got mammoth sized industrial machinery on the scale of other places, but the rusting carcasses that are present, set amongst the lush greenery make it very photogenic imo.

Must say I agree; and those are the kind of urban pics I enjoy. :)
That one with you sat by some railings...there appears to be (although I realise it isn't! ) a gun mount next to you. Do you know what that actually is?

Cheers
Foxy :)

Afternoon JD,

Would like to third what Foxy & KA said. Good find by the looks of it (it may not be a massive site, but it's still way bigger than my house!
Me fave pic is 4th from bottom -love the contrast of the buildings against the trees. Also like the way the clear corrugated plastic on the walls is a different colour to the rest of the walls. Great stuff (errrm, the pics -not the corrugated walls!);)

Lb:cool:

I think that's some kind of little flue or vent. Great little platform that, in the 7th picture, the railings on the smaller right hand building, the platform pic is taken from the far end of there. :)

Forgot to ask -the last pic -is that some sort of vehicle?

No, it's a portacabin. :)

Yeah, it's a cool little place. I first explored there in Feb 2005, it's particularly cool at the moment being mid summer as the place is alive with flora in all the wrong places.

Nice one JD, as always great pictures:) out of intrest would that be Redhill, Surrey?

Yes, it's Redhill, Surrey. :)

I really like these pics, especially the 4th one down. What is that exactly? it looks like dried foam (if that makes any sense at all!) Love the rose pic with the broken window behind it. in fact, I like them all.

Cheers JD, the pics are great. Thanks again.

nice one.....did you get to see the out bulidings to the right of the drive as your going down....they look trashed from the outside...but inside if the light is falling well its really photogenic...got a few of them on a post some where here...

Really nice JD. It looks like you had a great relaxed explore and getting on well with the new camera.
