Default George Barnsley and Sons - November 2013

Popped in here for 3 or 4 hours. What an amazing place. Unfortunately called back a couple of weeks ago and the access had been removed!!

History of the place is well documented but briefly George Barnsley was a supplier of tools to the shoemaking/leather industry. Founded in 1836 and moving to the Cornish Works in 1852.George Barnsley became Master Cutler in 1883. Becoming a limited company in 1946. George died at home in Sheffield in 1958 at the age of 83.
    Anyway, here's a few pics...........

What I notice about all these places is: when they start to write on the wall then the writing is on the wall, if you know what I mean. I'm sure they didn't scrawl on the panels when it was all going well, only in the last days. Lovely set of pictures and if you've got hundreds more I hope it's not too long before we get to see some more of them. Thank you very much.

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
