    Default McKechnies - Aldridge

Hi, newbie here, hope this post turns out ok. McKechnies in Aldridge who went into administration earlier this year although I think they are still trading on a smaller scale. It was a thriving business for over 100 years making brass and copper products, this building was built in the 50s or early 60s. The site is huge but looks like most of it is now disused. Took some pictures mainly of the canteen/function room as my hubby remembers going to children's Christmas parties there in the '60s when he was a kid living down the road. Picture the tinsel :)

This is the rear of the canteen, I wonder what's in those rooms??

This is the office block in front of the factory

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
