Covered earlier by Infraredd in a mini-tour of the area. Came across it so thought I’d put in a little report. Not a lot of history and this is all I could find on this super little windmill situated just outside South Luffenham which was Grade II listed in June 1984.

The mill dates back to 1832 and is constructed of coursed rubble stone with red brick dentilled eaves and cambered lintels. No roof or floors remain in the 4 storey mill although some tie beams are still in-situ. The stone tablet dated 1832 can be found over the main entrance door facing westwards. Apparently in 1895 a storm blew the cap off but despite this the building continued to be used until 1908. Now it stands lonely in the middle of a farmer’s field inviting its picture to be taken. On with the pictures.
