Bardon Aggregates/ Aggregate Industries Crich, March 2015

Second post since the other one didn't work and can no longer edit it!
So with the help of the great threads by Shatners and skankypants, and with a bit of local knowledge I finally visited Crich Quarry with two mates.
The main structure as we know was built by Butterley Aggregates, who also abandoned it around 1990?
,which then years later was used by Bardon Aggregates.
The Quarry was abandoned in August 2010 due to the limestone being contaminated (perfectly good stuff however turned concrete funny colours) so they mothballed it.
Significant refurbishment needed if quarrying were to resume.
Shame as there has been a small bit of vandalism from someone by the name of 'Calum' but not too much compared to some places due to the remote location.
(not going to bore you all with the history bits as I'm sure you will have read it before)
Bardon Aggregates last used the quarry, and mothballed it due to the economic downturn around 2010.
First thing we found was the canteen next to the enterance gate; a small portacabin falling apart and in some places held together by rope. The door had already been kicked in.
The canteen

Next we walked onto the weighbridge offices, which had seen little vandalism.

Nothing much there so onto the main office block and a second bridge, which I questioned, due to it being flooded and made from wood. The windows had been smashed, and the office had been messed up since the last threads.

Some more rooms

Next we walked up to the main machinery,

The electrical room fell over a long time ago, but the circuits have been nicked...

Large boulders block the path down to the base of the quarry for vehicles..

The blue lagoon (pH value of 11.3 because of the Calcium Oxide from quarrying) , which is the only one at Crich, as the other lakes are orange due to clay.

Back up to the crushing plant...

Back to back near the office , are two warehouse bits, one older I think. Both from Bardon Aggregates time though. This one is the older, and is an oil store. Oil and a broken asbestos roof, cough cough!

Last photo for you, a nice shot with most machinery in

Thanks for reading, took loads of pictures and I visit quite a lot.
I think I'll explore down the base a bit more, perhaps enter some more buildings and look at the machinery.
Camera: Nikon D3300 with kit lens.

I'm glad you got your pics up, the report sounded good but I wasn't seeing any images, it was worth the wait, Thanks

Yeah apologies for the delay, got my head around things now, so confused at first I thought I'd need a degree in computer science to get it working! 12 edits later the report is fixed :)

Yes, Crich Stand. A few comments were raised by locals that quarrying would make the stand fall off the cliff, however Bardon made a statement saying Geologists surveyed it regularly, but that would've stopped a while ago now!
