This must have been on here before but a quick search didn't show it (so apologies if the photos are repeats). Easy access as it's next to a footpath. Other than litter it doesn't seem to suffer too much graffiti. I've been a handful of times when passing but never has it been a dry day? Before it's final demise it would appear the mill was converted to steam power. Last visit was almost dry and I regretted not taking one of the smoke grenades out of the battle bus to fill the chimney.
There has a been a mill on or near (older records are often not too precise about locations) for hundreds of years but little of the buildings remain now. The wheelhouse is in fairly good condition along with the mill wheel. There would have been a wooden launder but that is gone. There are also the pit wheel, wallower and great spur wheels with followers, drive shafts and millstones lying around. The mill pond is silted up and the stream now passes directly to where the overflow sluice was. There is a nice brick & stone lined leat from the mill pond to where the launder would have been.
