    Default Sealed air..cambridgeshire

Visited this place a few months back after dropping the better half off at the airport.the place is very trashed and quite burnt in places.there was a major fire in here in 2014.i did enjoy my visit here though, with some nice features to see.sealed air is a major packaging specialist in st Neots.specialising in bubble wrap, cryovac and other such specialised packaging.this factory shut in 2008 when the company announced a downsize with a change in operation procedures and more reliance on technology.the changes cost forty jobs.

This was my favourite room.with the moss growing on the table

Another of several labs.lots of testing must have gone on here

    The boiler room.

The main lab area.this was severely burnt.

The main foyer and office area.

When I got to the main heart beat of the place I was surprised to see the machinery was undamaged.just a few tags on them

So very nearly went here last week but had limited time so went for RAF Upwood instead. Wished I had pop in now on the basis of that fab set.

Only scrap value I'm afraid. Had a nice little part time earner 20 years ago, cutting up and removing scrap like that. All depends on the state of the scrap metal market at the time - buoyant market and plenty of cash in the back pocket, glut of scrap and you don't even get the price of the gas used on some jobs!

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
