I don't know too much about this place, just that it used to pump water from the canal up into big tanks for use with steam engines on the railway.

The problem with this place is that it's really public so really difficult to not be seen. I was there for about twenty minutes before I looked out a window and saw a copper walking along the perimeter fence towards the building I was in. Decided it was time to leave before he got there! I'll try and be more sneaky next time.

The pump, the best view is from the front but I didn't have time to get round there.

I will update when I get a chance to go back

I really like the second pic, it looks so big and atmospheric. really like it. Love the view from the canal side. Do the Arches on the first pic go underneath the building to some kind of loading part?

Looking forward to seeing more pics from here,

Cheers,

:) Sal

Thanks for the nice comments guys

The pumps are under the arches. The third pic is taken from the back of the building through a window, you can just about see the opening of the arch way in the top left.
I'm guessing that there would be pipes coming out of the arches and into the canal, unless they go underground that is.

They are planning on turning the whole area into a new housing development and the land behind (up to the railway) is being cleared so they can start building. I expect there may not be much longer before this place is destroyed or turned into some trendy bar.

Nice one! Lovely looking place there, nice and bright inside too. Is there any way of getting onto that set of wooden stairs and getting up to the top?

Excellent pics! I've passed this place so many times over the years and i always assumed it had something to do with the old railway sidings that used to be there.

The last i heard was that this place is going to be turned into a restaurant. Very original...
