Just wanted to say Hello to everyone as this is my first thread on the site and thanks to all of you to inspire me and get out there! :)

For some time now I have walked past the mystery electrical facility and tried to enter it multiple times however i could not find a appropriate way of getting down the the facility. I have researched it many times and came across some information that was shown Gromr123's post, from the user Stu8fish, were he said the following.

The first site is the Former Reigate Corporation Electricity Works power station built under the Reigate
Electric Lighting Order 1897 and completed in 1901. The order was introduced to help introduce the new power of electricity that spelt the demise of coal gas as a form of fuel.
Currently in use as a primary electrical distribution site. Power is fed to this site at 33kv and transformed down to 11kv and then fed out to local substations where it is transformed down to normal domestic mains voltages 230/400v feeding your house etc.
There are live high voltage compounds on the site and active security patrols visit frequently.

I knew there were risks to this facility but after having to walk past it on nearly a daily basis i decided to enter the compound with extreme care. I did not enter any of the buildings i just walked around the site taking photos.

I hope you liked my first post i will be posting more soon :) Thanks for all the inspiration you guys!!

Especially if the copper cowboys have visited, if they haven't fried themselves the buggers will have made the site fecken lethal,. Good report and pics, Thanks

It's a very active live domestic electricity secondary transformer site. One of those rare occasions where the warnings are signs real and not exaggerating - Danger of death. Much of the equipment is unshielded and live, and it's very difficult to tell what's carrying current and what isn't unless you know exactly what you're looking at.

Best left well alone whatever type of interesting building it may be housed inside.

This is a bold start! The buzzing noise was enough to turn me away from the idea of attempting to getting inside. I'd agree with Krela on this one, the danger is very real and not worth the risk.
That said, nice photos!

Oh yes, great photos, nothing against the report, I'm just stating why it's probably best that there aren't any photos from inside.

I'm glad you had the good sense to know your limits Khuge, welcome to the forum. :)

Nicely done - but as has been said Take Care around sites like this and only poke the camera through the fence! One old Victorian building interior looks much the same as another, once the original machinery has been stripped out.

You might find that a bit of research in local library / Reigate town archive interesting - if you are interested in the history of this place.

Most towns had their own Electric Companies, built under Corporation Orders in the late 1880's/1890's. However the eventual demand gave rise to the building of bigger plants and eventually the National Grid in its infant form put paid to this generation capacity and the buildings were put to other Corporation uses. In my own home town, the building became the original trolley bus depot.
