Taking an unlikely turn from my usual self and deciding to walk to work for a change, I stumbled across this… thing, that I have no idea what it is.

Ok so not strictly true, I have known about it for years but literally stumbled across access on my walk home. I actually have no idea what it is or what it was for and am unable to find any details about it online, however given its close proximity to a water pumping station I suspect it is something to do with that. Hence the somewhat fitting name “The Watershed”.

History wise, as above, I have no details so until I figure out what on earth it actually is I will let the pictures speak the words.

Looks like an ex drinking water treatment plant to me.

Possibly actually, it sits alongside a river as well that I have always believed was used for drinking water. It's a man made river so it's a possibility, there's pipes running off from each of those "tanks" leading to the river as well.

I like the natural lighting in your pics, UD, Nicely Done, Thanks

All natural in these ones :D Thanks

As Krela states - an old water filtration plant for potable water production. Possibly made redundant by the EPA which banned the return of untreated plant 'effluents' etc to rivers and manmade water courses and even water extraction in some case from these sources. Thus many Authorities combined their plants where possible and abandoned the older and less efficient facilities, in order to meet the new requirements. Very nice set of naturally lit images that clearly define the function of the site and are easy on the eye, good one UD. Surprising what sometimes turns up when shoe leather replaces tyre rubber on the run into work!

Hmmmm....I was gona say the same as Krela and Dirus Strictus...well no actually I was gona ask what the hells that black stuff on the floor!

I think they maybe right:victorious:
