    Default Report - Caterham F1 Headquarters - Aug 17

So this F1 Team entered the sport in 2010. In its five years the team failed to score a single point with its best result being 11th at the 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix.

Despite attempts to keep the team going into the 2015 season, the assets were seized and sold at auction while the 230 staff were made redundant.

This site includes 150,000 sq ft of buildings, offices and a racing car testing facility. Unfortunately no F1 cars but nevertheless still made for a great explore. That's until the police arrived after we had triggered the alarm.

    Very nice indeed!

I bumped into a guy there last month "patrolling it" who said there was alarms and asked me if I'd been inside, I thought he was winding me up when he said the police would arrive, since its a few miles from anywhere, I'd already been there 3 hrs so ignored him...it must of been my lucky day lol

Although money won't necessarily buy you success in F1, this is a bit of a sorry reminder of the chasm between the rich and the "poor" of the sport. Sometimes it amazes me how far some of the tail end teams can stretch a shoestring budget. Clearly in this case though, it wasn't quite enough.

Really enjoyed the sporting history here, thanks very much for sharing. :)

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
