Default Chailey Brickworks, Sussex - June 2017

Visited with Gromr123. Epic day of fails but finally we found some empty sheds!

This place was meh but nice from a photographic point of view. Harsh lighting conditions in normal derp circumstances, yet my pics looked like they were taken at sunrise or sunset. The panels in the roof to let natural light through gave a nice warm orange/gold tinge to what would normally be blown out patches, a nice change to the normal holes in the roof that add tricky parts to an otherwise dark space. Still nice to spend a day with Grom none the less.

We covered quite a few miles this baking hot day, one promising new place was a no go at the time, bloody nettles and brambles, but we got into one house that we spent ages figuring out a way in and left within a minute because it was just nothing. A few other stop offs were a waste of brake pads, eventually I suggested here because we were in the area. A nice chilled wander, although there was nothing chilled about it as the buildings were a total hotbox inside. Plus hornets. I'm still not used to those big horrible bastards, too cold for them where I grew up!

    Thanks for looking!

Yeah this wasn't the most successful day out haha. As far as empty sheds go I guess we can't complain too much.

It was nice to capture this sort of light in the middle of the day rather than some ungodly hour of the morning. But nothing beats the gold of the sunrise though!

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
