This is a fine old Scottish pit, that's for sure. It's one place I kind of expected to run into drug users, or at least signs of it, but alas there was nothing of the sort just a lovely deathtrap of a former power station.

It was built in 1902 and provided power for the first street lighting and tram network in Kirkcaldy, but it fell out of use way back in the 1960s and has lain empty ever since. Nice and easy to get into, a good chilled place for a wander on a weekday morning. Recent developments have seen an application for demolition of a listed building applied for, so for now it has an uncertain future.

Having been empty for so long there isn't much to see inside, however it has a cracker of a staircase at the front, and the original white glazed bricks that form the bulk of the main building are lovely.

Nice one, you've managed to see some real blasts from the past on your trip. I'm surprised that Victoria Power Station hasn't been flattened yet, as they've been talking more seriously about redeveloping everything along that stretch of road recently. Kirkcaldy had a few good sites a few years ago - and the old Nairn's lino works was just up the road.

That's quite a large building as you can spot it from the train as it arrives in Kirkcaldy. It's future is unsure but its a grade 2 listed building. As previously mentioned the lino works are just up the road and a large building as well, another you can spot from the passing train.

Aye i remember the Big rat in the offices hear at the time Nairns was flattened a few years ago. Did manage to get to the tope of it another time before flattened. Mookster did you not go to the other power-station up the road. From what i hear the site maybe on borrowed time

Wanted to, but sadly on a weekday morning there were far too many workers and contractors about for my liking :(

This will be such a shame if this gets demolished which it sadly probably will. It looks a lovely building esp like the white brick tiles inside. Too costly to repair will be the excuse as always. Thanks Mook good job!
